We'll 'bury' the 'hatchet' for a few minutes and 'toast' all to good health, wealth and a long life! You have convinced me that borrowing the money by issuing the debt instruments is questionable. I will ask one more question, could the money be used to by 'leverage' in the form of stock options? Would that make sense?
Your points are well taken on the 'power' of the computer, and personally I thought the 386 was enough when it came into production. 'I can see more clearly now' and hesitate to say that the P-II spells the end of desired power. The Merced might just still prove to be the next 'required' step. I must be careful not to let my view influence what the market will do. I am sure that there are some users that will never have enough 'power, speed, or storage'.
As for CPQ and the 'free monitors', it may be the free monitors that are helping move to obsolete equipment. Weren't those 15 inch monitors, which are becoming obsolete rapidly. If it is the 17 inch monitor, what is the dot pitch, and maximum resolution? Many variables here, and I would have to know more about what is going on.
Market 'sucked' on the possibility of rising interest rates, but (IMHO) will 'rise' again.
