Max. Thanks hugely. The particular message you directed me to made an interesting point--the fact that a small rise in rates might trigger a spate of buying. Kinda flies in the face of traditional thought (particularly, I suspect, that of Market gurus), but perhaps could well be true. If it is, one might guess LEN & DHI could stall or further decline for several months until such increased sales become obvious. Debating about what to do with these two. I hate it when the Market says that companies that were great 3 days ago aren't worth a damn today; but I've found it hard to argue the Market down. For now, I think I'll try doing a Warren Buffet impression of owning good companies and hold on a little longer.

Saw from your profile you own GTE. I have a son who works for them in Atlanta. The Market might not like telephones for a while either (until the interest rate thing settles), but I think GTE is a nice, if bit stodgy, company.

Gonna mix a toddy and try to make some sense of today's gyrations.
