As for your first question, monkeys are used because .....well, have you checked your lineage lately?(:>)Actually, TTNP did their first studies with rats but because of the similarities with human brains and monkeys(rhesus)the next step is to test with monkeys. With these results, the next step is to file for an IND with the FDA and to test the drug with humans.

As for your second question, the TTNP process utilizes natural human cells that can be manufactured using cell culture techniques. This is the advantage that TTNP has in that the current method of using human fetal transplants has inherent problems with availability, quality control, and other issues that you can probably image from certain groups opposed to human transplants.
