John-excellent post! In spite of the alarming report in WSJ, a rate hike in the face of continued stable prices does not seem logical. Even if the downward pressure from the Asian effect is less than anticipated, there was no imminent inflation on the horizon preceeding the Asian flu. Hope your hypothesis that this news item contributed to the late rally is valid. billwot
