John, did you see the cumulative customer account numbers?

The cumulative number of customer accounts rose from 1.5 million on 12/31/97 to 2.3 million on 3/31/98. An increase of over 50% during bookselling's worst quarter of the year.

Also impressive is the revenue increase from $38M in Q397 to $87M in Q198. It was difficult to interpret the Q497 numbers with the holiday effect. The last estimate I saw for all of 1998 was revenues of $288M.

I suspect we will see a lot of upwards revisions of estimates over the next few weeks. The global book market is about $80 billion annually. Then there will be music CD's and movie videos.
