The problem with these rapid run-ups is that no one can tell if this is a true breakout or if it is a minor speculative leap of faith of something. Although I am hoping (betting a large percentage of my portfolio) that Borland stock will take off, I can only believe that a good portion of these quick runups is due to speculation. My guess is that some analysts either upgraded thier recommendations on Borland today or commenced coverage of Borland. If so, I expect that the recent runup would be more actual and long lived than if they were just due to crazy buyout rumors.
