I was in N. California. Checked out a Radio Shack in a suburban mall yesterday, saw only one compaq on display. A 233 for $1395. Pretty small and dirty store. The salesman said they would compaq area with abunch of machines by July. Configure your own and all that. I wonder...

I work with a computer graphics company. Judging from the computer ads in the mail every day, Dell, without a doubt, is targeting on the needs of the professionals who are slowly moving over to $6-10k NT systems when abandoning their Macs.

Might be a small market compared to wiring a fortune 500, but Compaq is not going for this segment at all.

Makes Dell look like Lexus and Compaq look like a Chevy. Now which would you buy?
