What a coincidence. I ordered their sign up package over the weekend and expect to get it in the next few days. Have you mailed them the application with a minimum of $2K? One thing I can say about Ameritrade is that over the past year and half they have never screwed me with a really bad price. That is important.

I asked Ameritrade last week about how their fill report system works. Here is their unedited response. I just asked a question on how the system works and I thought they got a bit defensive:

"The info. is posted automatically by our back-office systems.

Let me apologize for the fill report delay you have been seeing. This is certainly not what we want for our customers. Please keep in mind that orders and executions are still very timely, and there are no problems with this area.

The problem we are seeing is that the system that handles fill report posting sometimes falls behind throughout the day, due to performance issues. Some adjustments have been made over the last few weeks to alleviate the problem, but they have not been completely successful, so this is being heavily researched by our internet group. Essentially, the changes that were put in place simply did not work, so we are moving to 'plan B' so to speak. We have other things that will be tried to improve performance in the coming weeks.

Please keep in mind that executions are NOT delayed in any way - they are still timely.

The same system also handles many of the quote and database requests at this time, which is also causing some of the delays. We are going to move many of these processes to our fastest web servers to help alleviate the strain. This should happen in the next few weeks.

Again, we apologize for the delays, and we greatly appreciate your patience and continued support.

PLEASE READ:

If you do not see a fill on an order that you believe should have filled, please send us an e-mail (from within the site) to techhelp@ameritrade.com, with TRADE CONFIRMATION in the subject line. We will prioritize these requests and attempt to get a fill for you ASAP. Please be sure to include the order number in the body of the message, and your correct return -mail address."
