jeff/john - you both addressed this well - I do disagree about Unix being a Hack Job - if it was, why would companies bet their business on it and still do?- the fact is that NT is riding Unix's coattails into the enterprise market - it is unproven and limited - anyone can argue that over time it will improve but so will Unix. Sun is pushing the envelope so far that I wonder if wintel can ever catch them.

From a business perspective - NT may be taking some business from low end Unix but that is because of the whole support infrastructure Unix vendors supply to their customers needs to be accounted for. A nt server here and there may seem like a smart choice financially - but if NT became the mission critical platform - MS, CPQ,Dell would be raising their prices like crazy and trying to build the support infrastructure which they currently dont have and wont have for years.
