JB, I sold my TI stock a few months ago. In my humble opinion, semis are not a good place to be in the short term. My S&P index fund has performed better than any of my semi holdings, so I moved them all into the fund and went fishing! I check in occasionally to make sure I'm not missing the next run.

I believe that TI is definitely a "best-of-breed" semi company, and a great long-term investment. Strong, focused management, dominant position in the fastest growing market segment (DSP/analog), favorable view on Wall Street and a growing lead in manufacturing process all bode well for this Texas giant. More important is that all metrics are sound (in this market, TI seems undervalued!). Bottom line, I cannot find any "major" long-term problems!

I will be curious to see:
1) what they will do with all that cash
2) how they handle their commodity products (logic and memory) and their distribution channel. In the age of e-commerce, there has to be a more profitable way to globally distribute commodity products.
3) I will be interested to see where the next process node leads them. TI will be one of the first true "system-on-a-chip" providers (have they coined an acronym for that yet?) - what new markets will be created with this??

Stepping off of the soapbox now. Tell that fine Polish wife of yours hello!
