News out this morning.
LEESBURG, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 28, 1998--Wireless Data Solutions Inc., (OTC BB:SOLU - news), announced Tuesday that it has completed the development of a new cellular product for its Data Mate mobile data terminals allowing the transmission of data over standard voice analog cellular networks.
The company's terminals can also transmit data over CDPD (Cellular Digital Packet Data), as well as traditional two-way radio frequencies.
Mike McLaughlin, CEO and president of Wireless Data Solutions said: ''The new cellular product was developed based on the market potential and many requests from customers. Regarding CDPD, the infrastructure is still being put in place by a consortium of cellular providers, and is not available in many parts of the country. It was designed to send short bursts of information or packets of data. Two-way radio has been around for years, but is limited by distance of about 40 miles. Having the capability to use cellular voice networks to transmit data opens up tremendous markets for our mobile fleet management products coast to coast and internationally.''
As an option, the company's terminals can be fitted with a hand set so cellular voice communications can be available. Other options that can be used on the various communication networks are GPS receivers, credit card and bar code readers, and printers. The company also offers a GPS only product that can operate over two-way radio, CDPD and cellular voice using the company's tracking software for vehicle location.
