I had LASIK surgery of my right eye on 4/20/98 at the Pacific Cataract and Laser Institute (PCLI). An optometric Physician checked my vision yesterday and reported that it has been corrected to 20/25.

I chose to correct only the right eye at this time. At my age I would need reading glasses if I also had my left eye corrected. Being my left eye is near sighted, I can use it for near vision. I may have the left eye corrected if "monovision" is found to be awkward. I've decided to try monovision at least a month before making a decision regarding the correction of the left eye.

The cost of one eye at PCLI is $2000. Both eyes done at the same time costs $3200.

I found LASIK surgery to be very easy and the results to be immediate and wonderful. No pain really. Minor discomfort for the first few days because of dryness of the eye lens. But eye drops helped in that regard.

I don't know which machine PLCI uses. They truck the machine between several of their clinics where they perform LASIK. The doctor and about 7 assistants travel with the machine. I think, they schedule LASIK surgery for 1 day about every 2 weeks at each clinic where LASIK is performed. Here is their web site pcli.com

The day I had LASIK, they must had done it on at least 40 people. By far the majority of the people had both eyes done that day. Everyone I observed that day was very pleased with the results.

I understand PCLI is privately owned company. I am long LCAV.
