Update: Projected sales for 98 is approximately 100 mil. higher than 97's with the high margin newer machine 8000's series, however: - Most major customers prefer older model machine with performance track records. 98's production runrate is almost filled with 1488 order; more than 400 of 1488's if all customers do not pushout or cancell with runrate of 2/day est(due to lay off of production floor operators) - Top heavy management style with layers of vp, dir, mgr....expect to see no less than 60 just in wire bond division. Not enough Indidans around to quick response to market change in demand. - Continuous reports of soft and hardware problems with new machines. - Joint venture runrate is declining. Their major contractor: SMTC (in Phoenix, not NC) has shut down as result. - Intel has licensed the technology to put "solder bump" on chip from IBM and is evaluating vendors that supply the machine to adhere the bumped chip to package - flipchip bonder as I told- for high performance microprocessor.
