Yup! Chips are 150 billion+ and a few years ago, a high %ge of that was PC related - a lot of DRAM and MPUs. With competition those %ges of total revenue and margins are coming down.

When I looked into LSI in 1996, the thing I recognized was that a few years down the road chips would be the foundation in many more segments with a lot less competition (initially). So more chip content in many more newer segments. The trick then was to find a company that recognized this trend. Bingo who made the PlayStation?

Consumer electronics and core layer networking are 2 such areas - first high volume the second high margin. Fibre channel storage is a bonus. Communications is a gift.

They've had some kinks to iron out that I did not foresee (me no engineer). But 2-3 years down the road we shall see if this is all mumbo-jumbo or heebe-jeebies or a $150 stock.

Shane.
