Your tax dollars at work!

NetCenter boss Mike Homer's Casper Milquetoast impersonation got a sudden jolt then he unexpectedly brought up the Department of Justice's case against Microsoft. Those words are caffeine within the context of Netscape, but what followed was even more surprising.

In a hall filled with hundreds of investors and a couple of dozen journalists, Homer said that the investigation isn't so important as a means of justice, but as a publicity windfall.

"We are using the Department of Justice case to bring a tremendous level of visibility to what we have and the choice that consumers have," said Homer, as Netscape publicist Allison Johnson noticeably cringed. And what of an antitrust victory over Microsoft's so-called predatory practices? "We don't expect to win a suit against Microsoft. We don't expect to do that."
