I am doing the opposite and shifting my AAPL stock positions into LEAPS. Take a look at Jan 2000 options. Estimate what you think the range in stock price may be at that point. Calculate your returns. Ponder the result.

What you will likely find (if you are bullish) is that the premium for time is very low. It is hardly more than the imputed interest.

The exact ROI numbers depend on what strike you use, and your assumptions but this is a great entry to options for those with a 20 month horizon and reasonable AAPL bullishness.
