Mr ValueSpec:

Hi there. I have been following your stock picks of late, although since I only have time to read a fraction of your posts I am sure I have missed some. I see in the last week alone you have posted over 100 messages. That is remarkable. Keep up the good work - posting on SI must be a full time job for you. Your posts suggest you are a great stock picker - maybe you should start a newsletter - people might be willing to pay for your advice, "obtuse" or not. I vaguely remember you claiming to have made several hundred percent this year already (or maybe it was only 100%). That must be a lot of fun! I hope you don't mind but I took the liberty of looking you up on SI's personal profile. I wanted to find out more about this self-proclaimed stock genius! They listed all your posts for only the last few days (perhaps you have overloaded their system) but I did have time to look at some of them.

Congratulations on your CD pick! It is up 26% since you bought it at $19. Oops, I am sorry - I don't want to exaggerate. You claim to have bought CD at $19 but I see from your posts you also bought CD at $23.50 and I don't know what other prices you paid for it, so I guess you aren't making as large a percentage profit as I thought. After all, we should go by the average price paid shouldn't we, not the lowest price paid? Congratulations anyway! You are currently making somewhere over two percent on that one (I sincerely hope you bought most of your shares at $19 and not $23.50). I thought about buying it too - after all, when a stock drops like a rock it often rebounds - that happens over and over. It just takes a little guts to pull the trigger - as someone pointed out, sometimes more bad news follows and then whomp - you lose your shirt. I didn't know all that much about the company so I just watched the story play itself out. Congratulations on your gamble though - it seems to have paid off in a big way.

And now a second "gamble" has paid off for you (I probably shouldn't talk in the past tense since you haven't sold yet but...). I see you bought FTEL and it went up 50% for you, in just one day. Too bad you didn't invest more than the small number you said you got. Oh well, I am sure you will learn something from the experience - isn't it great when you can make mistakes and make a profit at the same time? At least the money you made on FTEL today should offset your losses on FTEL when you bought and sold it last week.

Speaking of mistakes, I remember you touted PURW some time ago. And then, right after you praised it on the FTEL thread you stopped talking about it (I am not sure why you were talking about PURW and CD on the FTEL thread by the way, but it certainly made things easy for me to be able to read about those companies without actually having to go to the threads that were created for those companies). Well, after looking up an old post of yours now I know why you stopped bragging. I see you sold off half your shares of PURW at a loss recently, and today the stock rebounded nicely (incidentally, I see that tonight you mentioned on the FTEL thread that you own PURW, the first time you mentioned it on the FTEL thread since it started going down, and it went up 15% today - coincidence??). I bet you are regretting having sold off those shares of PURW for a loss? But if you can move the money into a gainer like FTEL, then it could be said it was a very shrewd move. I praise your shrewdness! And I see you bought CCSI and just sold it off at a loss too. That's too bad. The only other stock your posts say you got was ISTN, and you say you lost on that one too. So many losses, one after the other. Maybe it's a good thing you made all that money a few months ago! At least CD and FTEL are going up - otherwise it would look like you were headed for the poor house.

And what about YURI - you sold that just a couple of days before LU bought them out. Well, that's heartbreak city. I feel for you man! Let's face it, the stock market is pretty evil at times. When you sell all your shares in a company and a couple of days later it gets taken over, well that's just plain terrible awful luck.

Hang on, I am getting confused. I thought you only picked winners. I guess that's my mistake for inferring that from your posts. I must have misread them or misunderstood what you were saying. In my completely unbiased study I can only find two current winners - CD and FTEL. Where are the others? I didn't expect to find more losers than winners in your portfolio. Anyone can do that - all they have to do is go to Vegas and "gamble" there. Perhaps you are in a slump right now. I sure hope you come out of it soon and pick some more winners! Maybe your luck has turned with your purchase of FTEL.

Good luck in your investments, and may you never make another bad stock decision again Mr Valuespec,

Mark Krasberg
