Mr. John Auston reports
Ashton Mining of Canada has received analytical results from the
Buffalo Hills project in north-central Alberta.
Microdiamond analyses are now available from three of the nine
kimberlites discovered last winter. In reviewing these results it should
be borne in mind that the data are generated by analyses of chips from
reverse circulation drill holes, and thus are not directly comparable with
earlier analyses from core holes on other kimberlites.
Kimberlites K-3 and K-95 in the southern cluster of pipes have returned
no diamonds. This is consistent with earlier results where few of the
kimberlites in this cluster have proven to be diamondiferous.
Kimberlite WP, 550 metres north of K-14 has returned a small count of
stones, including one macrodiamond of 1.6 millimetres in maximum
dimension. The K-14/K-91 area has provided the best diamond counts to
date, and these initial results from WP show it to be another
diamondiferous kimberlite in this grouping.
In summary, the results from Ashton's North Vancouver laboratory and
Ashton Mining Limited's Perth laboratory are:

Kimberlite Sample No. of
Weight Diamonds
(kilograms) less than greater than
0.5 mm 0.5 mm

K-3 180.2 0 0

K-95 90.0 0 0

WP 89.0 2 2 (1)

(1) Maximum dimensions 1.6mm and 0.6mm

The joint venturers on the central Buffalo Hills project are Ashton
Mining of Canada (42.5 per cent), Alberta Energy Company (42.5 per
cent) and Pure Gold Minerals (15 per cent). Ashton is operator of the
programs.
