Microsoft against the wall? www5.zdnet.com

I think the old line is "Come the revolution ..." but I don't think we're there yet.

WASHINGTON -- The federal government and some states could file coordinated new antitrust charges against software powerhouse Microsoft Corp. possibly by next week, as previously reported on ZDNet.

While the charges would be filed separately by the states and the Justice Department, sources said staff attorneys at both levels have been discussing the best way to work together.

"Within a week there could be a coordinated filing," said one source. But matters are still at the staff level, with sign-offs needed from top officials, another source said.

The domestic law enforcement division of the nefarious international ilk conspiracy moves forward. It couldn't happen to a nicer company, of course.

Cheers, Dan.
