Mr. Sphar,

<<I know for a fact that at more than one high tech company which I often
trade, a post to the thread is a direct line to the top corporate offices.
I'm sure its safe to generalize on this.

I agree it is probably safe to generalize on this as you have suggested.
Attitudes re SI in corporate offices range from curious respect to fear and
loathing. And as you point out lawyers have been doing their job of putting
the fear of God and Gavel into the ears of hypnotized executive eyes staring
at a screen full of Silicon Investors. They know full well that any posting
sets a perilous precedent possessing tar-baby tenacity. The posting portal
is one way only and putting finger to keyboard means first removing it from
the dike holding in the corporate secrets, the real power in corporate hierarchy.

As this "lurker" topic appears, to some of this thread's contributors, to be
slightly off topic I would like to query the readers of this thread on topic:
What are the consequences of a deep bear market on the content of postings
and the civility of SI forums? What happens when stock shorters dominate
market activity in a bear market? I've seen stable threads erupt when even
one or two shorters begin posting. What's it going to be like when they're
crawling all over the place? Have the executives at go2net taken this into
consideration? Who's going to pay the equivalent of $8.00 per posting if
there's nothing but flame wars on the threads?

Jerard P

P.S. A parting contribution to the "lurker" theme: writers know only one class
of people; readers. By addressing all as "readers" we create no artificial class
distinctions. As Martha Stewart, no corporate slouch herself, would say,
"That's a Good Thing."
