Things that were music to my ears (from the conference call:)

* Pete Kight visited 20 of the top 25 banks, and says they are all planning to come on soon with aggressive marketing of PC banking. He played a radio ad running now for Wachovia in the Southeast. Very nice -- a young woman's voice bubbling about how easy it is. Wachovia is offering free billpay for the first six months -- an interesting loss-leader idea. Once you try it, you won't go back and $6/month seems like a bargain

* On the bill presentment front, Kight said he believes the top 100 billers will define the e-bill market, and CKFR wants to sign up 50 of them in calendar 1998. "We are already halfway there" Two major billers are already up and running with "small groups" of customers even before maing any announcement. Billers are announcing their plans more slowly than Pete predicted -- afraid of tipping their hand and also afraid of getting swamped by customer requests before they are ready to handle them. But he says they are actually implementing faster than he thought they would. Pete said by July half the households in the country will be able to sign up to get TWO bills a month from top national billers alone, using CKFR. Customers are looking to get three, preferably four bills a month via e-bill to make it worth the trouble, and lots of regional billers will also soon be offering CKFR e-bill. Now, when did MSFDC say they would be out of beta testing? Remind me.

VERY positive briefing
