Because IBM releases a PII - 100mhz board PC , that is proof of your statement ?
Since IBM has been selling PII systems since their inception it is no surprise that they are selling one based on the 100mhz board , even though PII gives only a very marginal improvement over a 66 mhz board.
The socket 7 100mhz board however gives a 10-17% improvement for K6.
