I happened to be back looking for something (stuff about Vsat) and stumbled again on your referenced post. I gotta say I still think it is a brilliant advert. for G*.

One little add re the "ain't no ordinary dude". What Bernard Schwartz has got, I think, is a really fine market sense. He fully understands diverse technology (from an overview point of view) but also understands what the key real world drivers are for success. Enough technology, but as simple as possible to get the job done at lower cost and less likelihood of failure. Go for the cutting edge in CDMA, cause the carrying capacity and the multipath reception around obstacles are key key issues for satellite communications. Forget cutting edge to do switching between satellites, cause it costs a lot, greatly increases chances for failure, and duplicates ground based solutions (ie long distance) which are coming down in price fast. Cut in the locals, to grease approvals and get local marketing and billing. Keep your own wholesale prices to the locals low, and let them deal with setting the appropriate price and subsidy mixtures to bring in the traffic and make a tidy return. Etc., etc.

Oh never mind. "ain't no ordinary dude" said it better. <gg>
