I have been attempting to buy PTCH for the last 2 days with GTC
orders. Each time I raise my price, the Market Maker raises the bid/ask. I haven't been successful at buying at 1 13/32 or 1 7/16.

This is called "chasing" a stock. You will almost always get burned doing so, regardless of what side of the market you are on. You should just put in a market order because in the long-run you will end up getting a better price. I have seen many people, inlcuding myself, get burned and miss out on a big gain (or potential loss) by "fighting" for meassly 1/8s of a point.
