Re: VSAT. I'm long at average price just a bit above current trading range. Had a limit order in 5 or 6 months ago @12, missed getting filled by an 1/8 :( . . . .
The VSAT management team originated with a San Diego company the name of which I will mangle, but think it was "Linkabit" or a close proximity thereof. Valueman/Readware have previously referenced it and can correct me. What's interesting is that Linkabit [?] had two guys named Jacobs and Viterbi who left to form Qualcomm. Linkabit had some very hot technology per Readware and obviously had some very talented folks. That was one factor in my decision to buy.
Another is the % of VSAT owned by senior management which is a boat load--these guys are very motivated to make it happen.
Finally, their 'DAMA' technology is supposed to be outstanding (per Readware and others)and if I have a clue (always questionable) is supposed to massively increase the carrying capacity of transponders.
Their size increases the possibility of buy out by one of the big boys in the industry which is just an 'icing on the cake' consideration but never hurts.
Seems like a good play all in all. Hope this helps your DD. Regards, Mike Doyle
