No, not a dead cat bounce. Both IBM and where I sit have roadmaps well into the new millennium (not sure about Hitachi), with plans to sell all we can build of a new, faster machine each calendar year. Re-read post #54730. No Intel processor, or system known to date, nor Sun, or anyone else has plans to address any of the functions/features I mention in it. Well, you could say Tandem is addressing the RAS part.
Re health of the mainframe, check with me again in, say, 2001.
