Money Talks: Is the Smart Card Diversinet's Key to E-Commerce Profits?
NEW YORK, April 29 /PRNewswire/ -- In the "Shaking the Money Tree" column this week, Bob Metz, editor of Money Talks ( talks.com ) and creator of The New York Times Market Place column, writes about Diversinet, a high tech company specializing in secure transactions for electronic commerce. This is the latest in a series about "Future Stocks," stocks with the potential to grow tenfold in ten years.
According to Metz, Diversinet could ride the predicted e-commerce explosion as banks and merchants adapt measures to provide secure Internet transactions. Per Diversinet, their smart cards and authentication software far exceed the competition in both price and speed. Diversinet smart cards contain authentication data and banks could issue, them for $5, contrasted with a $500 cost for banks to issue the same sophistication of authentication in a rival card. Furthermore, Diversinet cards take five seconds for authentication whereas the best rival system needs 180 seconds. In addition to the technological advantages and financial benefits of Diversinet, officials from both Microsoft and Netscape occupy seats on the Diversinet board.
