Well, here's my take on the news ...

- first formal "push" offer I've seen of ADSL
- mainstream GTE service
- offer appears backed up by GTE infrastructure
- suggest possibility of rapid rollout capability
- GTE response to inquiry was of high quality (all the facts)

I see this as a very high quality seed from which GTE
can grow the service rapidly ... my impression from the
reply and it's content is that GTE is serious about this.

I take this as a general sign of ADSL reality taking shape.

- benefit to AWRE is by association (sector growth milestone)

I will attempt to track down what equipment is being used
(Orckit?) on client and head-end sides.

- possible direct benefit to AWRE (licensing royalty revenues?)

Aside from the apparently tentative PacBell offering, this
appears to be the first systematic ADSL offering to the general
public.

Getting to be time to "stock up" on ADSL ...
