Well. It turns out there was more to this story than the Kings getting a fighting major. Unfortunately the game was so late, we here in St. Louis didn't really get the full story in the newspaper until this morning.

It seems that, with a 3-0 lead midway through the third period, the Kings were going to be called for a delayed minor penalty. Geoff Courtnall, seeing an opportunity to get the Kings really riled runs the Kings goalie, resulting in a 2 minute roughing minor. Then, one of the Kings players goes after Courtnall (rightfully so, IMHO) and gets the 5 minute major for fighting. The Blues score 4 goals during the 5 minute power play and go on to win the game.

Even though I'm a Blues fan and thrilled with their performance this season, I'm ashamed that one of their players would do such a thing. If the table had been turned, I'm sure the Blues would be screaming bloody murder as the Kings are now. It was only 2 years ago when the Leafs ran Fuhr in the playoffs, nearly ending his career.

Kings coach Robinson, who is one of the finest and classiest gentlemen in hockey, was rightfully steamed at what happened. I'm just glad it happened so late that the youngsters here probably didn't see it.
