George, Alan, etc...

I believe it is mostly a question of semantics regarding the scalability issues of switches. From what I have heard, Ancor does what is called 'multi-staging' instead of cascading and they think this is much better (ie. ask who can scale more and Ancor's people think their plan is superior--ie. can scale much higher and better than brocade's switches...i do not know if this is true). For a mind picture that was once described to me...imagine 'cascading' as linking a rope from one switch to another (2) and then another rope from 2 to another switch (3)....with 'multi staging,' picture like a sort of master switch in the middle and then a bunch of switches all around it, all connecting to a different port on the master switch (I hope you get the picture). Apparently, ANCR thinks this is much more scalable/better. Like I said, I have no clue if this is true, or not. I am not even sure I am describing it correctly, so I would appreciate some more tech. talk from others. :-)

I remember those rumors awhile back about how Brocade's switch suffer severe congestion if more than 32 ports are used. Was this ever confirmed? I suppose we have always been looking for independent tests on these guys and we still haven't gotten them. :-(

I tend to agree with Craig's assessment on Brocade to SQNT...I would put it at 75% of their revenues thus far, but I may be way off. Perhaps, Roy could answer some of these questions?

all imho
