Thanks for summarizing the CC.I agree it was the most downbeat of the 3 or 4 CC's I have heard.I decided to call the company and spoke to Carlos Martens,CFO.He told me some things that were not mentioned in the CC.
1.They should know about the possible acquisition within 2 weeks.
2.Optimag R&D expense:
2nd qtr=$600,000
3rd qtr=$200,000
4th qtr=$0
3.4th qtr 98 sales should exceed 4th qtr 97 sales by 20%.That would mean that sales would be $37+ million.
4.From what I could gather from him we should not pay too much attention to the backlog mentioned in the annual report(so why put it in the report?).
5.The sales for each of the remaining 3 quarters should exceed those of Q1.
Martens and management realize they have a top-line growth problem, and they are trying to fix it(that is why Susan Mucha made a presentation).I thought her comments were too general and told Martens just that.He was surprised since he has been getting positive feedback about her presentation throughout the day.
I will hold, but I have my doubts about a 1998 eps of $.80+.The stock could get a boost if they make this acquisition. We will see soon enough.
