AT&T offers facts about frame fiasco, 2 SW defects attributed to CSCO FR switch and T-3 ckt card. nwfusion.com 1) During scheduled maintenance, AT&T upgrades code on a set of T-3 ckt cards in a Cisco Stratacom BPX 8600 series backbone FR switch 2) The upgrade triggers an unspecified, pre-existing SW flaw that generates a flood of admin messages. 3) In yet another glitch, the switch fails to curtail the message storm and the packages spread across the network, swamping other switches.
