The Pentium Math error:

I have replicated the error. Yes it does exist. But I don't think its hardware based. The error occurs in software when a program allocates memory sufficient for only 16 digits (presumably one for sign) to a variable. Consequently the reported multiple is then 12,345,678,987,654,300. If you aren't able to replicate the error, then presumably the software you are using allocates more memory to each variable to allow for greater accuracy or is sophisticated enough to dynamically "bump" large numbers into a different variable class with more memory.
