Almost entirely off-topic...

I see you're trading ORCL as well - that's my core holding, what fun.

Trading is the key word. And only very occasionally. When it was down near 20 several months ago it was an obvious long; above 30 I thought it was an obvious short. So that's where I am now. I'm basically a short-term technical investor and ORCL just happens to be in my basket of some 50 or 60 stocks I pick and choose from. They bought out part of DEC's operation here in town, so I have a couple of friends who work @ ORCL...

The 3 - 4 weeks I've been short has been the longest I've held a position in it. I usually go in for the more volatile stocks -- make money faster, etc. The fact that it's not going down much any more is causing me to lose patience and think of taking my 4 pt profit and running, but I've seen what being #2 in a biz can do to a stock, having thought 3Com was a better deal than Cisco last summer; COMS is down 35% and CSCO is up 50% since then. Live and learn.

I'd wish you luck on ORCL if it wasn't gonna cost me $$'s...

I'm holding my VRTS at least to the 2Q expectation period in June. I finally got my 1997 Annual Report and proxy statement -- the meeting was a week ago -- and was looking it over. 2Q's tend to be kind of weak, but I think we can go up 10-20% from where we are now, based on historical P/E's and maybe only a slightly diminished growth rate. I'm not counting on it, but maybe we'll get lucky and MSFT will announce a positive surprise wrt the NT release, which should clear up some of the uncertainty/hesitancy for VRTS.
