John - good to see you pitching in. In 1977 the VAX was going to replace the mainframe. And VAX is a whole lot closer in terms of mission critical reliability than the current crop of contenders... VAX will be history before S390. This is kind of like the polar ice caps melting from global warming, I might buy in that it's happening but I'm not buying a boat any time soon, I'll have plenty of time to see the tide rising.
