My understanding of a "route" is that equipment is used one night at VFW, the next night at the Ladies Aux, the next night at Home for the Creation of Wayward Women, etc.

What this does is allows a company to place equipment in halls where it wouldn't make economic sense before. For example if a hall only plays once or twice a week, the other five days generate no revenue. Now they will be able to place that same equipment somewhere else the other five days in the week. The benefit to the hall is increased revenue, which on 1 or 2 day a week halls becomes even more important.
