Aquafresh is probably NOT using any bleach chemistry, which would be considered an active ingredient(s). However, scrubbing effectivity can be increased using an inert ingredient like silica, or some other small particulate that promote abrasive scrubbing. This is just a guess on my part, but I base my guess on observation and hear say. 11 years ago, I worked for a company that manufactured a electrochemical sensor used to detect chemical ions. One problem we always had was to keep the electrodes clean and well polished. Any bit of dirt or grim would interfere with the analysis. Our solution was to polish the electrode with a bit of Crest toothpaste on a dust free soft wipe. We choose Crest because it did a better job that Colgate or detergent. One of my mentors suggest that Crest had small silica in their paste, which enhanced the scrubbing. I never bother to verify or look into his claims. Chester
