Hello Denise and Mr. Charters

The illegal miners there had to be removed. KRY would do the same. Placer Dome did not create the poverty. That is Carson talking. Not true.

Here is better way to explain stripping ratios.

Lets suppose that the topography is dipping 30 degrees A 45 degree zone dipping in the same direction as the topography will have a low stripping ratio. A stripping ratio means how much waste rock you have to move to mine ore. Zones dipping 45 degrees into the hill and parallel to the topography will have a high stripping ratio with limited tonnage.

In Venezuela the surface is flat therefore as you move your pit walls of the mine back this will increase the stripping ratio hence increasing production costs. The depth of the zone from the surface will always increase eventually shutting down the open pit mine. You are right, eventually the ore will be mined by underground methods but costs will increase even further.
