Alan, to answer your questions on DRIPS;

1. An investor in the DRIP plan can send in Optional Cash Payments
or OCP's every month. I can't remember what the ceiling is for
Intel, but I think it's about $5,000 per month. or you can send in a little as $50 per month. you can also have the "Trustee"
automatically deposit money into your DRIP account every month
right before the shares are bought. So DRIPS are definetly not
limited to reinvesting the dividends only.

2. As far as taxes are concerned, you are still liable for taxes
on the dividends, whether or not you take the dividend as
cash or reinvested dividends, in essence a stock dividend.
(A while ago you could have tax-free reinvested dividends on
some qualified utility stocks ! Boring...
