Hi Christine, There you have it in a nutshell. We are willing to sacrifice 50,000 people a year to car accidents. and much of the driving is for convenience and lifestyle, yet we insist that nuclear plants must not harm anybody. Actually they don't until they break down, so why not work on making them safer?

I'm not sure that you are aware that nuclear plants do not spew radiation into the environment. As David has correctly stated, the levels are below background levels. A nuclear plant basically does one thing. It heats water in a closed cycle to turn turbines. The stacks that you see are cooling towers that are releasing only water vapor. There are no streams of pollution coming from them as there are in coal plants. You have gotten your information from poor sources.

By the way, are you aware that your site is strongly linked to the XXXXX thread? Hmmm.
