Here is link to a breakdown discussion after the Ascend
presentation at the H & Q conference. I like the light
it sheds on the ATM market from their (Ascend's) angle
(ie different marketplace focus I believe), and the comment
Morie made regarding Lucent's purchase of Yurie Systems.
(don't know why the heck they did that!) At the end of
note he mentions that Ascend is competing with Fore for a
contract with Level 3, and how Fore's low cost gives them
a real shot.

Was wondering if you could expand somewhat on how this new
ASX-4000 ATM switch would be used by future customers. Sorry
if I sound short-sighted, but is there really much of a demand
for this much bandwidth capacity? and where and how could it
be used? Good luck. Peter.

PS - From the Ascend notes, they themselves will be coming out
with what seems a similar product this fall no?

Would love it if someone attended Fore's breakout session
and could post some details of what was said. Wishin' and
hoping.
