Callaway Golf and Wilson Sporting Goods Reach Settlement

CARLSBAD, Calif., April 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Callaway Golf Company (NYSE: ELY - news) and Wilson Sporting Goods Co. announced today that they have resolved a patent infringement lawsuit brought by Callaway Golf against Wilson in the United States District Court for the Central District of California. The lawsuit involved Wilson's staff Titanium Metal Woods and Fat Shaft Drivers and Callaway Golf's United States Patent No. 5,042,806, which is directed to the S2H2(R) low-hosel and Tru-Bore(R) bore-through construction used on Callaway Golf's Big Bertha(R) War Bird(R) and Great Big Bertha(R) Metal Woods and Biggest Big Bertha(TM) Drivers.

The parties have agreed to amicably resolve the matter, with Wilson agreeing to respect Callaway Golf's patent rights, including admitting to the validity of Callaway Golf's patent. The details of the parties' settlement agreement are otherwise confidential.
