Nobody wants 486 or lower. The company I work for is currently upgrading the network system and workstations, We use CPQ hi-end computer as network servers (PPro 200) and low-end Intc CPU (Pentium 120 - 133) powered computer as workstation. Anything lower than that is less cost effective for future expansion to Windows NT.

The next wave of corporation upgrades to Pentium (at least 150 MHz) will be huge, and not like any upgrades before, which simply added some DRRAM and a bigger hard drive. The most economical upgrades toward Windows NT is buy a new computer with Pentium Pro, and Windows NT pre-loaded. It is simply not practical to upgrade to Windows NT from DOS/Windows.

That is why CPQ, DELL etc. are so hot. That is why hi-end INTC CPU is shot of supply. And make PC makers put double orders for their orders to INTC, and tends to order with longer term, which is very good to INTC.

Go INTC.
