Art looks like IBM is doing what the Romans do (to grow)

IBM's "consuming" ecumenical spirit:

Perna also said that IBM will add an additional
1,000 sales representatives, committed to selling
database software and related products, over the
next 18 months.

and whether in Rome or Troy:

"IBM has spent much of the past year building its
support for Windows NT... software suites--one for small businesses, one for departments of large companies, and one for entire companies--
intended to run on Windows NT. "

Bears beware - could be a Trojan , er Roman horse:

"The suites, expected to ship later this year, were
launched to help IBM compete with Microsoft's
BackOffice server bundle.

Hard for IBM to grow its $84 bln/yr revenues like a start-up but IBM is trying . Alternatively acquisitions by stock are faster and you can put those 1,000 sales warriors to work quickly .

Regards,
Jim K.
