Chuck, and all, I'm interested in disk drive component suppliers, as you all know, and wondered if anybody has any figures on platter counts going forward. Some of these suppliers sell into the majority of drives sold which gives them a winning situation regardless of price wars between big makers. But they have greater exposure to the number of platters.

I guess it is reasonable to say drives in low end computers will be single platter?

At what PC price point, would we likely see 2 platter drives? And greater than 2 platters?

Also, in the enterprise, what should be the average platter count?

Of the highest capacity products, what's the market? Who would need a 18+ did drive at this point? Surely, RAID systems are made up of smaller capacity drives.

Regards,

Mark
