Look, I'm short AMZN but thats no reason to go overboard with the negatives just like the bulls do on the positive side. Lots of startups have no breakup value and are bankrupt for all practical purposes - that is expected.

Most startup biotechs do nothing but burn cash (zero revenue) until they either come up with something or disappear, thus they are even worse than amzn by your measurements. That doesn't make them worthless.

Amazon does have a valid business model that I imagine will eventually turn profitable. I don't think the profit will be as much as others are expecting (b/c of competition) or will justify the current valuation but there is the chance that it will do that well or better, and thus the stock price reflects that hope.

I also agree with you that if the market starts to tank (and interest rates rising looks like the mostly likely scenario right now) that these overvalued inet puppies will get hit very hard. That is exactly the reason I am short Amazon (among others) as a hedge in my portfolio in case things turn sour.
