Lots of startups have no breakup value and are bankrupt for all practical purposes - that is expected. Most startup biotechs do nothing but burn cash (zero revenue) until they either come up with something or disappear, thus they are even worse than amzn by your measurements. That doesn't make them worthless. Amazon does have a valid business model that I imagine will eventually turn profitable. I don't think the profit will be as much as others are expecting (b/c of competition) or will justify the current valuation but there is the chance that it will do that well or better, and thus the stock price reflects that hope. >> If the market shifts towards caution and moves to protective stocks for a rising interest rate scenario, AMZN is vulnerable to a 75% drop very quickly....good luck to you, and don't get complacent....;^) << I also agree with you that if the market starts to tank (and interest rates rising looks like the mostly likely scenario right now) that these overvalued inet puppies will get hit very hard. That is exactly the reason I am short Amazon (among others) as a hedge in my portfolio in case things turn sour.
