MSFT has embedded Web TV SW in Win98. As part of its licensing arrangements for Windows 98, Microsoft is said to be planning to offer PC makers discounts on the software if they agree to install circuitry into the computers that would enable them to receive television signals. Web TV is a Microsoft-owned service that enables people watching television to also surf the Web. This chilling fact is often lost in less sophisticated investors. The DOJ and states want to make a stance on both IE and Web TV issues as MSFT leverages its strength in several areas to acquire dominance in other adjacent areas. Now the relevant question is what is the likelihood of Win 98 being stripped off of Web TV Sw and IE ? If that is the case what would be the rev. impact ? and most importantly will MSFT stock be depressed further and what is the next several support levels ? Care to offer insights, Anyone ?
