Steve, That's why they got rid of the whole primary residence rollover thing and we can now roll over a new primary residence every 2 years without paying gains. They never had the means of keeping track of your basis calculations. If you don't mind moving every 2 years, this is the new cash cow for our generation. Buy low, sell high, forget about leverage and rental income, just keep flipping your primary residence for a tax free profit.
