jw, funds are more difficult to analyze than stocks but I am not sure how else to play the China market. My biggest concern is that they may be over valued already. Do you have any insights to the Dragon or other funds?

Just a general comment, China is growing in every direction. Infrastruture, such as highways, bridges, phone lines, etc etc are all great sectors. Every city I visited, including poorer regions, have highrises going up like there is no tomorrow. Just imagine everything that are needed to fill these buildings, both residential and commercial. China is still poor but discretionary income is no longer a luxury.

Back to communications, I wouldn't worry about GSM/CDMA battles. The country is so big and the market so empty now that a fraction of the market is huge. No problem with cell sites, they can put one anywhere and everywhere - mountain tops, roof of highrises etc. Landlines are just too difficult. Most cities are too congested to dig up.

In addition, China is still very regional. By that I mean decisions are made from town to town, then province to province with very little central coordination. I am sure that are going to end up with a hotch potch system and it will be years before they eventually get it all together.

HK is awesome, everything other car is a Mercedes. The other being a Taxi. What China lacks HK will supply, be it capital or brains.

Maurice, I will give you some politics. US better stop lying to the public with all these human rights propaganda. Stop playing stupid political games. China will work with anybody, even with their bitter enemy the Japanese. Get in on the action or be left out in the cold.
