I agree this does seem like a short time period. My guess is that both companies are having trouble trying to predict the exponential growth, so both companies are probably unwilling to sign a long term contract based on a per transaction fee, when they don't have a good idea how many transaction there will be. (I think they both expect it to be Huge, but when and how huge are yet to be known).
